Open Auditorium – Gender Based Violence

On November 21, 2017, the UNESCO Chair at Marin Marleti University organized the Open Auditorium on the topic Youth people as agents of change against gender based violence.

The introductory remarks were given by Mrs. Agustela Nini Pavli, from UN Women Albania, which underlined the situation of the gender violence in Albania and in the Western Balkans region. In her perspective, this is a very disturbing and complex issue for our society and we need to give comprehensive response which should target the foundations of this phenomenon.

Mrs. Nini Pavli emphasized the special importance of the improvement and the effective enforcement of the legislation, the effective awareness and the empowerment of civil society and youth, in order to overcome this phenomenon.

The questions and discussions were moderated by Dr. Ervis Martani, head of the UNESCO Chair at the “Marin Barleti University”. During the discussions, lecturers and students, remarked the current achievements and problems as well as the need for further well focused interventions in order to eliminate this problem from our society.
